Educational Assistance and Scholarships
School Supply Vouchers: The School Supply Assistance
program is to help registered members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians with
the cost of purchasing the needed school supplies for their child and or
children ages Pre-K to 5th Grade. School Supply Vouchers are available
from July 15th to August 31st or until vouchers are exhausted. Voucher
deadline is September 30 of every year.

Education & Athletic Assistance: This program is for
registered Delaware Tribe of Indians students who need some type of
assistance for students ages 6th grade and up while enrolled in school, such
as graduation expenses, ACT exams, summer school, athletics, etc. This
program has a maximum payment of $50.00 per applicant per fiscal year.
However, the Education Committee reserves the right to change this amount on
an individual basis.

Academic Achievement Award: Available on a one-time basis to
registered Delaware Tribe of Indians that have graduated in the current
fiscal year/academic school year from high school, college, or Vo-Tech with
a current 3.5 GPA (grade point average).

Driver's Education Assistance: Can be used to help defray
costs of driver's education classes through an accredited training
facility. This program has a maximum of $75.00 per applicant per fiscal
year. The assistance will be made based on funding availability.

Adult Vocational Training Assistance: Can be used to help
with costs of short-term vocational training classes. They are limited to
out of school students who wish to learn new or upgrade current skills. This program has a
maximum of $100.00 per applicant per fiscal year. The assistance
will be made based on funding availability.

Trust Fund Higher Education Scholarship: Awards are
available on a one-time basis of $800 per registered tribal member. $400 per
semester for full-time students and $200 per semester for part-time students
attending a college, university or vocational school. Students must have
a current GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 or better. Deadline is July 31.

American Indian Nurse Scholarship: The NSCDA (Colonial Dames), an organization that is much like the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), sponsors a scholarship for $1,000 per semester, and is available for the semester in nursing school, not for basic nursing, for any Indian student of any tribe. The Delaware nursing candidates have not been applying for this scholarship and we would like to have our students take advantage of the scholarship.
The requirements are: tribal membership card, 1/4 blood quantum, sometimes less will be accepted, resident of any state and must have evidence of enrollment in a nursing school. To get the application for this scholarship, email gaegey@aol.com. Reference NSCDA, American Indian Nurse Scholarship.
