This grant was to help support the Delaware Tribe of lndians’ effort to repatriate and rebury the physical remains of 42 individuals and 5,642 funerary objects (Associated and Unassociated) excavated from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DEWA) that are culturally affiliated with the Delaware Tribe, Delaware Nation and the Stockbridge Munsee Community. The requested funds provided for a delegation of 12 tribal representatives from the Delaware Tribe of Indians to attend the reburial and carry out the appropriate observances September 14-18,2009.
